Project Piketrek

Piketrek initially approached us for a logo design and webshop.
They had produced their own range of fishing equipment but were unsure how to market it on the internet.
We produced a set of logo's based on their requirements as you can see illustrated here. The logo's were to be used on their products, flyers and website.

We refined the logo after the first draft.

We produced a new set of designs after a further meeting with Piketrek. These more accurately depicted the message that Piketrek wanted to convey to their customers. One of movement of the fish, and the grabbing at the logo. The final draft completed the picture so we continued with the website design.

The website had to be clean and uncluttered.

Piketrek had spent a lot of time preparing their product pictures and wanted a clean black background to display them on. We altered the webshop layout accordingly. We have found that when displaying products that the product should be the star of the page. Clean close up images of the products with a contrasting background always work best. Quite often we work with a plain white background as this works for most types of product.

We taught Piketrek how to add products to their site.

After helping Piketrek to set up their postage costs and apply their product details to the site we set about with their search engine optimistaion. We considered the products that they wanted to be found on google and the search terms they wanted to rank highly for. We put a plan into place. There is no point having a great site if no-one visits it. A website should be an advert for your business, Your business should not be an advert for your website. They started from a low base. All of their keyphrases were outside the top 100 on google. However 3 months on and they rank in the top 10 for all 9 of their key phrases on Yahoo with many of them being number one. Try a search for pike fly rod, pike fly materials or pike fly on google or yahoo and you will see Piketrek listed in the top 3. Fishing is a very competitive market to rank highly for, but we know that Piketrek will soon be number one for all their chosen categories.
